Please spread the word

No doubt in expectation that few will be paying attention and everyone is too busy or distracted ...

... a Holiday Surprise for all of us: the US is contemplating incursions into Syrian territory in an attempt to kill or capture Iraqi Ba'athists.

Please. Tell everyone. Now.

Nothing surprises me anymore. How far will the people of the US let this go, I wonder? I had way too much faith in the people before the election, so I expect we'll happily plunge ourselves into Syria, Iran, the draft, destruction of the planet, and total annihilation. By the way, speaking of annihilation, I rented The Day after Tomorrow yesterday. Not a great movie, but I was thoroughly entertained. There is a scene where everyone in the northern states has to migrate south, and they are all illegally crossing the border into Mexico. I loved that. But I don't think Dennis Quaid has made a good movie since Breaking Away, another one of my favorites. Have you seen that one? Hey Cookie, are we the only sorry ones blogging tonight? Our social calendars aren't exactly rocking, eh? Somehow I don't think that's bothering you, either.

Sometimes I believe we're absolutely hopelessly doomed. I blame television and TV dinners myself. Other times, however, i think it will be okay. My students, for example, are almost to a person against what's going on, as are most of the people I know.

Still, the crazy people running the country and the crazy people supporters will likely wreak so much damage before we can get them out of there that there won't be much to salvage.

I don't mind not having a swinging social life. :=D I had a nice day today, roasting coffee for presents, and took some to the cowboy and Indian family who lives on the next hill. They're a gigantic family of gigantic tall people, and they like to feed me because I think they've mistaken being short for being malnourished. So they made me eat a gigantic cowboy and Indian meal and tried to make me watch some cowboy and Indian movies but I managed to escape before they gave me a second gigantic serving of cowboy and Indian cake and I crawled back home and now I'm down for the count until tomorrow.

Whew. I would never make it as a cowboy and Indian babe simply because I'm just too much of a peas and carrots sprouts and beet juice kind of a chick (with occasional barbeque frenzies).

I'm going off-topic, just to wish you a Merry Christmas, Cookie. Hope you have a wonderful holiday. We opened a gift each today, and then spent the majority of the afternoon watching one of them ("Return of the King" extended DVD, it's over 4 hours :)

Happy Holidays, let's hope we aren't at war with anyone else this time next year.
