McDonald's Former Chief Executive Bell Dies of Cancer

Charlie Bell, the former chief executive of McDonald's Corp., the world's largest restaurant chain, died today of cancer. He was 44. Bell was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in May.

What an extraordinary irony, although I find it doubtful Bell subsisted on a fastfood diet.

According to the CDC, more than 90% of colorectal cancers are found in people 50 and over. And, risk factors include "lack of regular physical activity, low fruit and vegetable intake, a low-fiber and high-fat diet" --- in other words, a McDonalds' lifestyle.

I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone. But I do find this ironic, at the very least.

Charlie Bell started as a junior at age 17 and it is very likely that he did eat substantial amounts of McDonalds food especially as he had a reputation as a hands-on 'shopfloor' manager. He was also kown as a person who believed the McDonalds 'philosophy' hook, line and sinker, including all their lies about McDonalds food being part of a healthy diet.
McDonalds has only been seriously challenged on health grounds during the last decade or so and he may have, like many others, gleefully tucked into large quantities of their food for one or two decades, certainly long enough to cause himself significant damage.
His death should stand as a warning to all those who regularly eat at McDonalds.

Okay, yes. Thanks! That's what I thought, but I wasn't absolutely certain, and just didn't have time to chase down the facts.

Wow. Pretty creepy stuff.
