Things that make it better ...

While pulling the cilantro seedlings out of their little pots, a little spring peeper leaps out of one of the pots and lands on my foot. I move him onto the thyme.

Foul, foul mood!

Coupled with nausea and hot weather.

It doesn't help that the *&$%# rodent is still living under the stove, as I discovered earlier today.

I'm going to spend a couple of days doing as little as possible, which is a tough one given I haven't yet gotten the tomatoes in the ground. But that's going to have to wait. I am really burnt out!

Dear White Supremacists and Curious Onlookers:

For several months now, I've had people from all over the world --- Russia, Idaho, East Germany, wherever --- visiting this blog as a result of a Google search on a young, White Supremacist singing duo.

Dudes, I removed that post months ago because I didn't feel like giving the little white supremacist demon girls (hailed by Stormfront and any number of other NeoNazi groups) any further publicity.

It won't do you any good to comb my archives --- the post is gone.

Right. Sure. I believe this.

A Harvard study suggests skim milk and other products may decrease a man's risk of developing type II diabetes

You know, I smell dairy lobby all over this. A year or so ago, I actually tracked this in me because I was having trouble keeping my blood sugar steady and on track. And what was throwing my blood sugar off? Milk. So I dumped it like a sack of potatoes, and haven't looked back.

And I seriously doubt I'm an anomaly.

I really don't like cats. I used to, then I moved out here. And I simply have way too much to protect here to let some *&@#$ cat hunt and eat it all.

I have skinks and frogs and toads and hummingbirds and bluebirds and woodpeckers and just about everything else, and I'll be damned if some freaking cat comes on my property and starts hunting it.

Which brings me to the neighbor's cat, who is doing exactly that. I chased her off the place yesterday --- and like a sign from the heavens above, saw hummingbirds feeding on clover --- that is, at ground level --- almost immediately after.

I want that cat to stay off my property. If they want to have a cat, fine with me - but I have the same right to have my hummingbirds and bluebirds and skinks.

If anyone has any useful suggestions for keeping this cat off my property, let me know.

Okay, so there's a little more paperwork ...

... but all in all, I am finally finished grading, recording, whatever, for the semester.

And my computer didn't crash and take all the grades with it like it did last year, thanks to a huge lightning storm right in the middle of grading.

And my printer even printed, although I had to keep removing the cartridge and filling it, and even though it didn't want to work when I had a month's worth of receipts and a mess of seedpacks sitting on its cords.

So all I have to do now is fill in the handwritten paperwork, put everything together, get up at the break of dawn ... and deliver the grades for the semester.

I feel like I've been run over by a truck ...
